How does the Shifts AI assign coverage shifts?

If you want, Shifts AI can take care of covering the staffing needs you defined when you set a coverage.

There are several scenarios:

1) Create the coverage first (outside the AI chat)

Start by creating the coverage using the usual process, in the Shifts view, not in the AI shift planner chat.

2) Ask the AI to fill a specific coverage

Tell the AI chat which coverage you want to fill. The AI will analyze the information, identify the shift and the roles required in that coverage, find which employees are available on that day and time range, and suggest a list of employees to cover it.

If the AI can’t find a valid option, it will let you know.

3) Coverage without specified roles

If you set a coverage with a required number of employees but no roles, the AI runs the same analysis, but will likely propose the first available employees it finds, since no specific roles are required.

4) Ask the AI to fill all coverages for the week

You can also instruct the AI to fill all weekly coverages. It will follow the same process and, based on each coverage’s criteria, provide a proposal to cover the entire week.
